Biography
Bernard "Bernie" Sanders is the junior U.S. Senator from Vermont, serving since 2007. As the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, he caucuses with the Democrats. Sanders is a prominent national figure known for his progressive platform, including universal healthcare and campaign finance reform, and was a major candidate in the 2016 and 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.
